World Environment Day 2026 Celebration at Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College

The Nature Club and Bhoomithrasena Club of Zamorin’s Guruvayurappan College, Kozhikode, in collaboration with Haritha Kerala Mission and Kozhikode Block Panchayat, organized World Environment Day on 5 June 2026 through a series of environmentally focused activities on the college campus.

The programme marked the Block-Level Inauguration of the Pachathuruth initiative and was inaugurated by Smt. Ajitha V.S., President, Kozhikode Block Panchayat. The function was presided over by Dr. Sindhu K., Head of the Department of Zoology.

As part of the observance, 500 saplings were planted across the campus, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development. The programme emphasized the importance of collective action in protecting biodiversity and combating climate change.

Awareness talks were delivered by Dr. Anoop K., Nature Club Convenor and IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Sreejith, Bhoomithrasena Club Convenor, and Mr. Shibin, District Coordinator, Haritha Kerala Mission. The speakers highlighted the significance of ecological restoration, afforestation, and community participation in environmental protection.

The event witnessed the active participation of members of the Nature Club and Bhoomithrasena Club, faculty members, and students. Dr. Jayakumar, Smt. Krishnaveni, Smt. Drisya K., and Dr. Nithya C. were also present and extended their support to the programme.

The celebration concluded with a renewed commitment from students and faculty to work together toward a greener, more sustainable future, echoing the World Environment Day message: “Together for nature, together for the future.”
